The Family Training Institute

Dr. Hensworth W.C. Jonas Director

The Family Training Institute programme is designed to promote the institution of the Christian family in the context of the local church through counseling services by appointment and an evening study forum using quality literature in the Reformed tradition.

Individual Counseling Service

Individual counseling is done by appointment only, using the methodology of biblical (nouthetic) counseling. The FTI Counseling Service affirms the philosophy and principles of both the Southern Baptist Association of Biblical Counselors and the International Association of Biblical Counselors. Appointments can be made by calling the ECBM office at 462-2894 or by e-mailing

Evening Study Forum

The FTI Evening Study Forum will generally meet on Tuesday evenings during the regular school term in Antigua & Barbuda, except on public holidays or scheduled congregational events for the Baptist Circuit of Churches (ECBM). The forum meets for two hours and is lead by one of the elders, or anyone appointed by the Presiding Elder, of the Baptist Circuit of Churches.

The forum is open to all believers who have purchased the textbooks for the current session and can affirm that the required reading assignment for the session has been completed. Textbooks and the assignment for each session can be obtained at the ECBM office. Currently forums will be slated to address the following disciplines:

  • Baptist History
  • Systematic Theology
  • The Puritans
  • Homiletics
  • The Local Church
  • The 16th Century Reformers
  • The Ministerial Call
  • Evangelism
  • Personal Spiritual Disciplines
  • Biblical Counseling
